"The most important reason for going from one place to another is to see what's in between," Norman Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth
Our journey has reached a point in time where we are on a side road, one we did not expect to travel but are doing our best to traverse. In time, we might end up back on the road we began, one where we are showing our dogs once more. For now, we are encouraging those who would love a Labrador Retriever to pursue our friends listed here on our site.
In addition, we would like to offer some pointers to those thinking about purchasing a Labrador by reading the following articles listed below.
In September of 2011, we purchased our first Labrador puppy, Misty Woods Ducks On The Pond, or as we call him, Duckie. He is an AKC Registered Old Style English Labrador Retriever out of Misty Woods Labradors. We feel he is a true representative of all that a Labrador should be: blocky head, thick body, easily trainable, driven to retrieve, totally devoted to family, a calm demeanor, and with that thick otter tail! He has multiple champions in his lineage, featuring Best In Show Champions, International Champions, American Champions, Canadian Champions, Multiple European Champions from France, England, and Finland amongst other countries. In addition, there are multiple Field Trial Champions, and Junior and Senior Hunters. We have been able to trace his ancestry back to the 1860's, back to Buccleuch Nell and Lord Malmesbury's Dog. He has ties to English Champion Sandylands Mark, English Field Trial Champion Flapper, and International Champion Sandylands Rip Van Winkle. Some of the Field Trial Champions include FC AFC CNFC CNAFC The Marathon Man, Retriever Hall Of Fame AFC FC Candlewoods Mad Mouse, and 2XNAFC Super Chief.
A few months later we brought home our first female, Misty Woods Absaroka Majesty, Abbie for short. She is a wonderful little lady and we are happy to have her in our family. Please feel free take a peek at her page to see her and read a bit about her equally impressive lineage.
You will find many kennels who state they are dedicated to the betterment of the breed. And while we have the same sentiments, we tend to look at this a little differently and say instead that we are dedicating ourselves to producing extraordinary examples of what a representative of the Labrador Retriever should be. So to that end we will do our best to bring all of the most desirable traits forward when we decide to breed.
