This is Duckie and I on January 21, 2012 in Harrison, Arkansas. This was our first attempt at showing in the ring. Arriving early, we participated in a Beginners Class for ring etiquette which taught us how to move and walk, where and how to stand. We had entered him in their annual "tune-up" for that year intent on using it as a means to get our feet wet in the Conformation Ring. It is a relatively low key affair, and the people are extremely nice. Duckie won Best of Breed in the 3 to 6 month catagory; he was 4 days short of his 6 month birthday at the time. Alas, as is all too common in new entrants to the arena, we simply didn't know how to proceed and made the mistake of leaving before realizing that by winning Best of Breed, he was entered in the Best of Group. I thought only adult dogs had that opportunity; now I know different. I was told later that the judge was very impressed with Duckie, and was looking forward to seeing him compete in the Best of Group, and possibly make it to Best in Show in his very first competition. Our loss!
